August 15 (Day 32) -Bras D'Or to Ports Hastings (via Cabot Trail)

Wednesday
We weren't in any rush to get up this morning.  We both slept very well - not sure if it was because of being out in the air yesterday or becasue the bed was so comfortable - maybe a bit of both.

We left shortly after 9:30am and headed out on the Cabot trail. The day started out foggy and overcast, but cleared as the day went one.

We stopped at a small restaurant just before the Cabot trail for breakfast. One of the things I never thought I would see was Bob being interested in a lobster restaurant, but we went to the Lobster Galley.  I suppose it helped that it was for breakfast.  It was a good breakfast, we completely enjoyed it.

After breakfast, we headed north along the trail.

We stopped at a Colournatural Gallery to see the artwork and photography.  There were some very nice pieces and photography techniques that we might like to try.

There was a lot of constrution on the road today, some of it very significant.  It was not unusual to have waits of 10 or 15 minutes before being able to move.

We drove the whole Cabot Trail today. It was a beautiful drive, but it may be just my memory, but it feels like there is much more overgrowth of vegetation this trip, blocking some of the more spectacular views.

At Port Hasting, we started by trying to check in to a Thrift Lodge, but it didn't feel quite right to me so I talked Bob into driving across the street - through quite heavy traffic to a different motel across the street. We  and are now checked in to the small motel across the highway.  Not the best motel I have ever stayed in, but it is adequate.

While we were checking in to the Thriftlodge, a couple checked in ahead of us that were from Saskatchewan.  He is (or appeared to be) a patch member of Hell's Angels from Regina, and she is from Saskatoon.  My VS friends will know when I say she looked the part.  They were very friendly to talk to though.   At the Skye motel across the street, a large Hutterite family were checking in.  We think there were two family units (with about 5 children) and Grandma and Grandpa.  We had good conversation with them about their planned holiday.  They are from Ohio and are planning to travel the Cabot Trail.  We warned them about the construction.  It's interseting the different people one meets in the world.

The internet here is very intermittent at best and very slow.  I will wait until I get a better connection to upload today's blog and pictures
