We spent an extra day in Sudbury to explore and get a break from driving. In the morning we visited the Science North Museum. It is an interactive science museum with all kinds of activities. A great place for kids. There are four floors of exhibits, a planetarium, an IMAX theatre, a butterfly enclosure.... Every exhibit had lots of learning activities, and short movies or shows to explain different aspects of science. The planeterium had a movie on how the universe and stars were and how, as humans we are intricately involved in that process. It also touched on supernova - when stars die - and black matter. After the movie, a guide showed us many of the constellations in the night sky. It was fascinating. An adventure I would recommend to ANYONE - not just families with kids.
In the afternoon, we visited Earth something. This was at the site of an old Nickel mine and focused on mining and how Sudbury developed as a mining town. We took a tour 71 feet underground to visit a mine and saw how mining has progressed over the past century. There was another movie that told stories of how Sudbury developed. Very interesting.
We went back to the hotel for a quick rest and for supper. An then we headed out to the IMAX theatre.
The IMAX had a 3D show on reintroducing pandas to the wild. We thoroughly enjoyed that.
We came back to the hotel around 8:30 and I downloaded the last of the meeting changelog files and then struggled with Google Photos trying to remember/learn how to upload an album since I don't have access to Picassa anymore. Finally figured it out and am now going to settle in to bed.
